Instructor Training with Venus - Vancouver, BC

Dear dance friends,

I have been receiving requests to run my Middle Eastern Dance Instructor Training course again so am proposing the following dates for your consideration:

Nov 10, 11, 12
9am-5pm

This is a 21 hour course including lecture and LOTS of active participatory exercises including teaching experience and technique classes.

Teaching skills
Giving feedback and correction
Creating basic skill-building choreographies & combos
Injury risks & prevention
Postural issues
Rhythms & music understanding
How people learn movement skills
Movement analysis and breakdown

I will be revising and updating my course to integrate lots of great info. gleaned from my shimmylab research.

Long-term Venus Bellydance students who take this course may have opportunities to become Venus Bellydance Instructors.

This course does not teach a restrictive "Method" for bellydance instruction, rather, my aim is to educate and provided instructors with better tools to achieve their own teaching goals and more effectively realize their own personal teaching style.

My credentials include
- 26 years bellydance experience plus ballet & modern
- 16 years teaching experience
- former president, librarian, Sahda editor & writer for MEDA
- trained with many of the top instructors worldwide
- BA in Art & Culture Studies
- BSC in Kinesiology
(areas of special interest: motor learning, fitness and physical training, biomechanics and injury cause/prevention, movement analysis)

I have had 3 research articles (based on papers for my BA degree) published in the prestigious Habibi Magazine. As part of my Kin degree I did directed studies projects in observation learning and also bellydance Movement Analysis using electromyography & motion capture (I presented this research in the Neural Control of Movement Conference in Spain this past March and at the International Bellydance Conference in Toronto in April. I will also be presenting it at a conference for kinesiologists, physios & massage therapists in November.
